Test reagents for animals

Since 1996, Nippi has been conducting basic research on prion proteins, the cause of BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy), in collaboration with the National Institute of Animal Health (NIAH, NARO). Alongside fundamental research on prion disease transmission, Nippi developed a highly sensitive detection system for BSE, leading to the completion of the "BSE Test Kit."

NippIBL BSE Test Kit Ⅱ, Nippi ELISA Reagents and pretreatment Equipment Set

The "NippIBL BSE Test Kit" is a testing kit that combines a highly sensitive anti-prion protein antibody with an efficient sample preparation tool, the "BioMasher." It received manufacturing and sales approval in 2006 and began being marketed as an in vitro diagnostic drug for animals. The kit’s improved sample preparation method, which is more efficient than previous kits, has received high praise. In 2012, it was awarded the "Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award" for contributions to industry-academia-government collaboration.
Additionally, the "BioMasher" developed for this product is sold separately as a general-purpose homogenizer for research use. In April 2017, the sale of the "NippIBL BSE Test Kit II" and the "Nippi ELISA Reagents & Sample Preparation Kit Set" also began. These products are packaged in a more compact format compared to the previous versions, and by separating the refrigerated kit and the room-temperature ELISA reagents and sample preparation kit, they contribute to saving refrigerated storage space.
Currently, this is the only BSE test kit legally sold in Japan. (Not registered as diagnostic kit outside Japan)
