Collagen for medical & research use

Nippi has been a pioneer in collagen research, leading the world for over half a century. By making the most of the technology it has cultivated over the years, Nippi provides a variety of collagen-related products, including collagen solutions extracted and purified from bovine and porcine tissues, as well as powder and sheet products. The company also offers high-quality collagen suitable for medical and cosmetic applications.

NMP Collagen PS

This high-quality collagen is made from porcine raised under strictly controlled conditions, ensuring safety and reliability. The manufacturing process includes virus inactivation treatment, and it has a proven track record of being used as a material for medical devices such as tissue regeneration inducers.
In addition to the 100g bulk medical grade product, we also offer a 10g version, which is suitable for small-scale research and development. This collagen can be used in the development of medical devices and regenerative medicine products.

Characteristics of collagen types

Collagen Type I

About one-third of the proteins in the human body are made up of collagen, and the majority of this is Type I collagen. Type I collagen is the main component of the extracellular matrix in multicellular animals and is a fibrous collagen.Type I collagen is a heterotrimeric molecule composed of α1(I) and α2(I) chains in a 2:1 ratio. It is especially abundant in bones, tendons, dermis, and ligaments, but it is found in all organs and plays an important biological role.

Collagen Type III

Type III collagen is a fibrous collagen essential for life. It is relatively abundant in elastic tissues, such as immature skin tissue and the smooth muscle cells in the tunica media of arteries. It is known to be expressed during development and wound healing, but its detailed functions are still not fully understood.

Collagen Type V

Type V collagen is composed of three types of α-chains, with the most common molecular form being [α1(V)]2α2(V), although there is also a form with α1(V)α2(V)α3(V). It exists in all organs, including skin, tendons, corneas, kidneys, and muscles, along with Type I collagen, and plays a role in regulating the thickness of collagen fibers. It has properties very similar to Type XI collagen.

Research Reagents (Collagen powder products)

Collagen products used to be typically available as solutions or freeze-dried forms. However, Nippi has successfully developed a unique manufacturing method that preserves the native collagen molecule's characteristic triple-helix structure while transforming it into an easy-to-handle powder. This innovation enables users to choose the collagen protein concentration and solvents (adjustable collagen concentration: approximately 10 mg/mL). It can be used in research for collagen molding products or drug delivery systems.

Cross-linked collagen sheet

This sheet is made from highly purified collagen and is compressed to a high density while maintaining a fibrous structure similar to that found in the body. It uses pepsin-solubilized collagen derived from porcine dermis, NMP Collagen PS, ensuring high quality. All products are EOG sterilized. This product is suitable for research purposes only and should not be used for any other applications.
